TOF1868 CATTLEYA walkeriana var. semi-alba. Brazil. Small plants with short stocky pseudobulbs and a single elliptical leaf. "Flowers are usually 1-2, very-long-lasting, and of great beauty." (Fowlie 1977) Reading in his "The Brazilian Bifoliate Cattleyas", one gets the impression that these plants grow in seasonally dry, harsh, warm habitats - but near flowing streams maybe. Wow, his travels and descriptions of the habitats are fabulous, and I recommend that you all take a look at this book if you are intrigued by the environs that produced each species. Very exciting blow-by-blow accounts of the collecting trips and the characters. Large flowers are either white with beautiful amethyst color on lip or with a very faint blush in the white (as in our photo). Recommend a "drier" culture or grow the plant mounted so that water dries off quickly. Fragrant. One per customer. | ||||
